On this day, the 80th anniversary of the Japanese bombing of the American naval base in Pearl Harbor, let's reflect on the horrors that war can bring. Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam and Korea included, the unimaginable terror facing men in combat can only be described by the ones that suffered through it. The photo above shows the USS Arizona battleship after it was struck by torpedoes launched from Japanese fighter planes.
The story below, "Spirit of War", is from the first issue (number 11) of the Star comic, HORRORS OF WAR from January, 1953. The cover is by L.B. Cole and the script and interior art is by Jay Disbrow.
