With the slogan, "Make WAR No More", DC comics planted their feet firmly in the ground with an anti-war stance. Many of the stories in WEIRD WAR TALES were infused with the same grim irony that had bee previously used in Warren's BLAZING COMBAT, which DC was surely influenced by. As a matter of fact, Bob Kanigher and Frank Thorne' wordless story in this issue would have fit comfortably within BC's pages.
It's interesting to note that chronologically, BLAZING COMBAT was published on the cusp of what would become known to the world as the Vietnam War and WWT was published during the midst of it. Both contained war stories from throughout history.
