MONSTERS WERE HIS MEAT!

I always thought this was a bit of a strange title for an article on Flash Gordon, but after reading it, one realizes just how many monstrous critters Flash came up against in his many adventures on the planet Mongo.

Take "Gocko", for instance, who is 11 feet tall, has the body of a dinosaur, a dragon's tail, the head of a horse and a mouth full of tusk-like teeth (pictured above). Flash battled many such monsters over the course of his chapter serials and Forry writes about them in the 10th issue of FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND (January 1961).
