I'm working on a writing assignment so I'll be ducking out for a while and front-loading posts in advance. The content will have less of my comments, but you'll still get your daily dose of monsters 'n stuff!

Warren came up with a winner in this new title featuring Will Eisner's classic character of Denny Colt as The Spirit. Part crime, part mystery and with an underlying sense of humor, Eisner's strip (which began as a tabloid newspaper insert) was superbly drawn and embellished with intriguing plots and characters. He was particularly adept at intertwining drama, humor and tragedy in a way that is rarely seen in the comics. Warren was astute in thinking the character might have legs after seeing the two Spirit underground comics published by Kitchen Sink the previous year (nearly a decade earlier, Harvey published two giant-size, squarebound issues in 1965-1966).
Eisner, of course, is the man responsible for coining the phrase, "sequential art", as well as popularizing the term, "graphic novel". He was one of the first professional cartoonists that worked in the field of comic books and went on to be memorialized in numerous awards and other accolades. His genius of design, lettering and storytelling are unmatched.
