It's a magazine! It's a book! No -- it's a bookazine! The latest in ways to separate us from our money is the combination book and magazine -- a publication that is lengthy (100 or more pages) with content that is more book that periodical. What you're doing is paying up to $30 for one of these. I find the format best suited for instructional issues, such as those for cameras and photography, but a few are worthy of other coverage -- such as monster movies!

This 100-page, oversized beauty is very well designed and produced and offers a well-written account of the 200-year-old history of the legacy of Mary Shelly's literary creation, and includes material on Frankenstein in films (and its many remakes), TV shows (THE MUNSTERS, of course) and even comic books. The photos are excellently reproduced, with some that I've never seen before. Life Books' FRANKENSTEIN: THE MAN, THE MONSTER, THE LEGACY is well worth the money spent as a keepsake of the monster's 200th Anniversary.
