VINTAGE FRANKENSTEIN AD

Now owned by Walmart, Herman Boots has been around since the 1950's. In the 1970's, their ad department came up with this idea to promote their line. While bearing only a slight resemblance to any movie version (probably for copyright reasons), this is yet another example of of using Mary Shelly's creation in popular culture.

  1. I love this seepage of horror and sci-fi into ads of the past. It's done with a bit too much irony today, but back then it had a more oddball resonance.

  3. You'd think for Herman boots, they'd snag...Herman Munster (DUH)!

  4. Contract issues? Who knows, but he would have no doubt "booted" sales a little higher.
