SEA MONKEYS: A BOWL FULL OF HAPPINESS

Anybody who read comics in the 1970's was bound to come across an ad for the "Amazing Sea Monkeys". Created by Harold von Braunhut, a German-Jewish White Supremacist (!), the kits were wildly popular. I even got sucked into buying one myself and was flabbergasted by the result of "just add water" -- tiny little white things floating around in the bowl.

Turns out that the "monkeys" were actually brine shrimp that could be "brought into life" by the addition of water. The add was drawn by none other than Warren's Joe Orlando. Braunhut wasn't quite done with his inventions, though. He also created one of the most recognizable ads ever with his X-ray Specs.

This must be the winner in the difference between the excellent ad and the disappointing product contest. I got some too, many years ago to entertain my girls. We were not entertained that long. Great ad!

The X-Ray Specs didn't deliver, either. Like getting the flat plastic soldiers that were advertised all over the place.
