Back in the mid-70's, I was a Ray Harryhausen fanatic. My interest in stop-motion animation was fueled by his work. THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD was released during this period and I sat nearly alone in a theater in Hollywood during a mid-week showing, watching it twice. As a younger Monster Kid I was amazed at the skeleton warriors from JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS and the Ymir, space serpent in 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH.
On one of my trips to the comic book and film stores that lined the streets of Hollywood Blvd., I came across this, the 4th (and last) issue of FXRH, "Special Visual Effects by Ray Harryhausen". I was stoked, elated -- here was a whole magazine full of Harryhausen info, including how he did some of his work! This was devoured, then savored for multiple readings. FXRH is THE 'zine for fans of Harryhausen and stop-motion animation.
A book published by Archive Editions collecting all 4 issues of the magazine is sold out. Click HERE for information on purchasing it from other sellers.
