TOPSTONE TUESDAY

There were no bounds to the the enthusiasm that kids had for their beloved monsters back in the days of the monster craze. FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND magazine provided Monster Kids (as we know them now, but didn't have a name for them then other than just plain "fans") with a forum for their obsession in the form of a monster club, as well as a couple of departments in the magazine that allowed for photos, artwork and comments from youngsters around the world.

In the May 1964 (#28) issue of FM, the Haunt Ads column included a shot of "The Queen's Creatures" -- that is, a bunch of kids from Queen's New York showing off their monster masks -- perhaps ordered through the magazine's Captain Company.
