These magazines speak of a time when imagination ruled over acquisition. We had to read about the imagine what fine movies and shows these might be, since seeing them was most often a remote possibility. I love having a large cache of films, and loved putting it together, but as all collectors know having is sometimes not as satisfying as searching.
There's still a few of us that remember that before the "on-demand" days, when we'd have to wait for a re-run (another word not used much anymore) just to see a movie again. We had two local theaters that we spent a lot of time at, but most of the movies we'd see in monster mags might as well have been shown in outer space.
