CRACKED MONSTER PARTY NO. 33 (PART 1)

CRACKED MONSTER PARTY
No. 33
Spring 1996
Globe Communications Corp.
Publisher: Barry Rosenblum
Editor: Lou Silverstone; Andy Simmons
Cover: Rurik Tyler
Pages: 52
Cover price: $1.75

If you wanted a few yucks for under two bucks, then CRACKED MONSTER PARTY was the way to go. It would be only a few years before the end of its print publication, and it's amazing that they were still falling back on the types of titles that were published as far back as the 1960's (think FOR MONSTERS ONLY and MONSTER HOWLS).

In this issue, DRAGONHEART (Dragonfart), FREDDY'S DEAD (Dreddy's Dead) and XENA (Eczema) are spoofed. Lots more monster satire ensues.

  1. Cracked without the distinctive work of John Severin is of limited interest to me. I'm sure it had its audience (a dwindling one I suppose). Now we barely any new stuff in MAD so I guess those halcyon days of a humor magazines are pretty much gone. Sigh.
