APOCALYPSE SOON . . .

THE FEAR AND PARANOIA of a nuclear strike on the United States during the 1950's Cold War was not unfounded. Contrary to the naysayers who claim that it was merely a conspiracy to "control the masses", at the time, Russia and China were avowed adversaries, and one only need study the Bay of Pigs episode in 1961 to fully understand the gravity of the situation. Despite years of international disarmament, the threat remains real, most recently from Iran and North Korea. Fortunately, the hotbeds that were recently considered unstable have been uncharacteristically quiet.

This comic, the first of two issues of WORLD WAR III, published by Ace Magazines (March 1952) tells the story of what might have been if "the button" had indeed, been pushed. Scripts are by Robert Turner and art is by Lou Cameron and Jim McLaughlin.
