WHEN THE DRIVE-THRU WAS NEW
We take a lot of things for granted today that were a big deal back when they were first introduced. Take for instance, the institution of the drive-thru window. Without hardly thinking of it, you can pick up everything from a meal to prescriptions, do your banking, and lots of other stuff without every leaving your digitally air-conditioned car.
When drive-thru's had barely started (they were called drive-ins at the time), they were a phenom that was worthy of inclusion in POPULAR MECHANICS magazine (August 1951).
