WHO KILLED JFK -- 56 YEARS LATER (PART 1)

Today marks the 56th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The repercussions from this heinous event have in many ways, altered the course of world history. Would our monetary system have been overhauled? Would the CIA have been dismantled? Hard to say, but one thing is for sure, the belief of a conspiracy behind the President's death began almost immediately after the event and has continued, unabated, until the present day.

Over the years there have been numerous dissenting voices on the "establishment's" conclusion that Kennedy was killed by a "magic bullet" fired from a mail-order Italian bolt-action rifle supposedly bought and fired by a single person, Lee Harvey Oswald. The house of cards called the Warren Commission confirmed this scenario after less than a year of investigation.

Two of the most famous -- and vocal -- opponents to the conclusions asserted by this document were attorney and civil rights activist, Mark Lane (February 24, 1927 – May 10, 2016) and Louisiana District Attorney Jim Garrison (born Earling Carothers Garrison; November 20, 1921 – October 21, 1992). Between these two men, a different truth was revealed to the American public regarding the circumstances behind JFK's assassination. Director Oliver Stone brought Garrison's theory to the screen in 1991's JFK.

Besides the obvious, the controversial men's magazine, PLAYBOY is regarded for its interviews of notable personalities. Shown here is an interview by freelance writer Eric Norden with author Mark Lane from the February 1967 issue. The pages are from the Texas History website with ads and cartoons removed and numerous underlines. Later today will be posted the interview (again conducted by Norden) with Jim Garrison from the October 1967 issue.

The truth may never be known of the real facts behind the murder of one of America's most popular presidents, but these two interviews are essential in understanding that there just might be more to this tragedy than the consensus conclusions of a group that wanted more than anything than to put the issue to rest and pacify a grieving public.
