In 1963, the 44 year-old Jock Mahoney played Tarzan for the second time in TARZAN'S THREE CHALLENGES (he was Tarzan in 1962's TARZAN GOES TO INDIA, and in 1960's TARZAN THE MAGNIFICENT -- but he did not play the titular character).
Somehow or another, a photographer (either freelance or on assignment) for THE DUDE men's magazine arrived on the scene during filming and snapped some candid shots of the local girls, indigenous to the local exotic locale and available to play extras. The title of the article, "Tarzan Meets the Girls of Cambodia", appeared in the September 1964 issue. One problem -- the movie was filmed in Thailand!
Also featured today is "Jungle Love", a portfolio by the esteemed artist, Roy G. Krenkel, published in 1974 by the Wonderful Publishing Co. The plates are of exotic jungle ladies, including those from the stories of Edgar Rice Burroughs. Krenkel's Rubenesque women appeared on numerous ERB paperback covers, but these undraped beauties were packaged by the publisher as "adults only" fare. Added to the portfolio are stills from various Tarzan movies, including the unfilmed TARZAN'S JUNGLE LOVE.
