HE FILMED FRANKENSTEIN

Known for his versatility and flexibility in filming any number of movie subjects, Arthur Edeson was widely admired by his peers for his "epic sweep of artistry that permeates his every screened work." It was Mr. Edeson who was behind the camera during the filming of FRANKENSTEIN. During the same period, he had also lensed the academy-award winning ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT, James Whale's WATERLOO BRIDGE, THE INVISIBLE MAN, THE OLD DARK HOUSE (uncredited), and a number of others. He later would film one of the greatest movies of all time, the immortal CASABLANCA.

This sympathetic article, published in the December 1935 issue of AMERICAN CINEMATOGRAPHER as he was behind the camera for MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY, lavishes well-deserved praise on one of the early masters of film.
