WEIRD TALES AND SPICY STORIES WITH "REAL BALLS" (PART 1)
NATIONAL LAMPOON
Vol. 1 No. 13
April 1971
National Lampoon, Inc.
Publisher: Leonard Mogel
Editor: Douglas C. Kenney
Cover: Frank Frazetta
Pages: 84
Cover price: 75 cents
NATIONAL LAMPOON was created in the fashion of its college-based counterpart, THE HARVARD LAMPOON with the intent of reaching a national audience. It succeeded in spades. Although presented in a more sophisticated manner than MAD, and flying a few miles higher than CRACKED and SICK, this is a seriously funny 'zine, folks.
With a fantastic cover by Frank Frazetta, this themed "Adventure" issue includes sendups of pulps and pulp magazines. Standouts are "Tarzan of the Cows" with art by Frank Springer, a men's magazine parody entitled, REAL BALLS ADVENTURE with hilarious stories, "I Infiltrated a Beatnik Hootenanny for the F.B.I.", and "The Kiddie Captives of Professor Perverto!", photo booth funnies and the humorous travelogue, "Mexico on 5 Toilets A Day". Blatantly irreverent and PC-free!
