As a youngster I never came across fanzines where I lived, so I thank you for posting this. Horror fanzines show how passionate horror fans were then and now. While the art and lettering are less than professional, the love and heart that went into them can be seen and almost felt by readers today.
ReplyDeleteHorror fanzines made me think of the 8mm horror films made by kids in the 50's through the 70's, and later the VHS kid filmed horror movies-low budget but with lots of fun and energy and creativity. What better way for a youngster to pay homage to horror films than by making one? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Great post as always, Thank you.
Well said. Thinking back to the 60's when I was making my own one-off monster 'zines, I couldn't have been more absorbed in the subject. One puts heart and soul into these things, otherwise, why do it? Certainly not for the money!
