Okay, admittedly, my movie monster interests lie more with the vintage films of the 30's - 50's, but hey, even the 80's had something to offer; I just prefer Frankie over Freddy, just so ya know.
This second issue of SLAUGHTERHOUSE from 1989 is a really good representation of the state of horror films of the time. You get a glimpse of the Zombie Apocalypse wave soon to come with the article on FLESH EATING MOTHERS, a cautionary tale about STD's and what they can lead to. Other fare that awaits are features on Stephen King, Wes Craven, Clive Barker, FRIDAY THE 13TH THE SERIES, David Cronenberg, and well, you get the picture -- these were all luminaries from the period. Perhaps the best article is an interview with Michael Gornick, with lots of photos of makeup man Dick Smith creating the living embodiment from the episode called "Fever Man" from the TV show, MONSTERS. There's even an interview with Richard Corben for comics fans. Okay, I like 80's monsters!
