Elevated to cult status in the years since its publication, Stanley's HORROR STORIES has become "notorious" for bearing the "taint" of the cheesy fiction of Ed Wood. With the earmark of Wood's penchant for over-the-top titles like, "The Vampire's Fangs Were Red With My Woman's Blood" and "The Ghost is Coming to Take Me to Hell", the stories are characterized by lurid themes and as much erotica as could be included in a magazine that would have otherwise been placed with the rest of the men's magazines on the newsstand rack. This is actually the first issue of HORROR STORIES, a continuation of the first two issues titled, ADVENTURES IN HORROR.

More of this type of material, only amplified with more nudity and explicit writing would be seen in the trio of Gallery Press' trio of horror-sex titles, MONSTER SEX TALES, HORROR SEX TALES, and LEGENDARY SEX TALES. More on these later...
