A good selection of material in this 8th issue of CASTLE OF FRANKENSTEIN. Well-written and informative is film historian William K. Everson's account of Lugosi's later career. Everson knew Lugosi and offers some anecdotes that were, at the time, exclusive to CoF readers. For instance, it was not well known that Lugosi worked for mere pennies on the dollar, even at the height of his acting powers. For example, the Halpern Brothers paid him a flat fee of only $500 dollars to appear in the classic, WHITE ZOMBIE. Another big exclusive is Brit horror historian Michael Parry's interview with Hammer's makeup man, Roy Ashton. Included are many film reviews and a month-by-month look at horror and fantasy books that were released in 1965 by Lin Carter. A good, solid issue of CoF!
