MONSTERS UP FOR AUCTION


Now on the block at the monster-friendly Heritage Auctions is a group of monster goodies up for bid. The lots include vintage monster mags, 8mm Castle Films, and a pair of autographed film still cards from Hammer. This selection only goes to show you that monsters are still a viable collectible.



Castle of Frankenstein (Gothic Castle Publishing, 1961-1974). Magazines (4) (Multiple Pages, 8.5" X 10.75"). Horror.
Featured are four fantastic issues of Castle of Frankenstein, including the first issue's collector's edition. The fright-filled magazines showcase images and stories on classic sci-fi and horror films and actors such as Boris Karloff, The Time Machine, THX-1138, Scream and Scream Again, The Exorcist, Zardoz, Freaks, Roger Corman, and much more. Unrestored magazines with bright color and clean overall appearances. They may have general signs of use, such as spine/edge/cover wear, unobtrusive smudges, and corner bends. Little Shoppe of Horrors Magazines (Elmer Valo Appreciation, 1984-1994). Magazines (4) (Multiple Pages, 8.5" X 11"). Horror.
Featuring a collection of horror-theme magazines from Little Shoppe of Horrors. Each magazine contains photos, articles, and interviews for some of the best known horror classics to new classics in modern films. Unrestored magazines with bright color and clean overall appearances. They may have general signs of use, such as slight edge and spine wear, surface scuffs, or very minor smudges. Horror of Dracula/Curse of Frankenstein Combo (Seven Arts, 1964). Magazines (3) (Multiple Pages, 8.25" X 11"). Horror.
Starring Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Michael Gough, Hazel Court , Melissa Stribling, Carol Marsh, Valerie Gaunt, John Van Eyssen, and Robert Urquhart. Directed by Terence Fisher. Included with the magazine for Horror of Dracula/Curse of Frankenstein are issues No. 27 and No. 33 of Famous Monsters of Filmland (Warren Publishing, 1963/1965). Unrestored magazines with bright color and clean overall appearances. They may have general signs of use, such as light edge wear, slight spine separation and spine wear, mild creases, surface scuffs, unobtrusive stains and smudges, or very minor tears. 20 Million Miles to Earth/Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein Lot (Columbia/Castle Films, 1960s). 8 MM Silent Home Movie Reels (2) (Box: 3.25" X 3.25" X 0.5", 5.25" X 5.25" X 0.75") & Paperback Book (156 Pages, 6" X 9"). Science Fiction.
Starring William Hopper, Joan Taylor, Frank Puglia, John Zaremba, Thomas Browne Henry, Tito Vuolo, Jan Arvan, Arthur Space, Bart Braverman, and Ray Harryhausen. Directed by Nathan Juran. Included with the vintage 1960s 20 Million Miles to Earth 8 mm movie and 2013 paperback novelization by Randall D. Larson is a silent 8 mm movie for Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (Castle Films, 1960s). Both of these vintage films are short excerpts from the two classic films done for the home theater market. Unrestored items with bright color and clean overall appearances. They may have general signs of use, such as edge wear, slight spine wear, mild creases, small surface scuffs, small tears, or film splices. The 8 mm boxes show surface scuffing, stains and smudging, paper lifts, small holes, and/or tape residue and stains. Please see full-color, enlargeable image above for more details. Starring Boris Karloff, Colin Clive, Mae Clarke, John Boles, Dwight Frye, and Edward Van Sloan. Directed by James Whale. Included with the poster for Frankenstein is a commercial poster for King Kong (RKO, R-1966). Unrestored posters that display signs of use. May include light edge wear, slight fold separations, very minor tears, pinholes, or unobtrusive smudges. There is some tape on the poster for Frankenstein. The Curse of Frankenstein & Other Lot (Warner Brothers, 1957). Framed and Matted Autographed Cards and Photos (2) (11.25" X 14.25" & 10" X 12"). Horror.
Starring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Hazel Court, Robert Urquhart, Valerie Gaunt, Melvyn Hayes, Anne Blake, Sally Walsh, Raymond Ray, and Paul Hardtmuth. Directed by Terence Fisher. Included with The Curse of Frankenstein is a framed and matted autographed card and autographed photo for The Brides of Dracula (Universal, 1960). Unrestored items with clean overall appearances. They may have general signs of use, such as slight edge wear, thin surface scuffs and scratches, or small smudges on the frames. The photo for The Curse of Frankenstein has a corner bend to the upper left and shows some surface checking. The cards for The Curse of Frankenstein are signed "Peter Cushing" and "Hazel Court," the photo for The Brides of Dracula is signed "Yvonne Monlaur" and the card is signed "David Peel."
