JACK PIERCE IN FAMOUS MONSTERS
Monster makeup pioneer Jack Pierce died in relative obscurity in 1968, virtually a relic in his own time. About two dozen people attended his funeral. He was laid to rest in the Whispering Pines section of Forest Lawn in Glendale, CA.
From England, Boris Karloff had a wreath sent to his old, loyal friend. Forest J Ackerman was there and didn't forget him, either. In the May 1969 issue of FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND, he included a (for FM) lengthy article and appreciation of the monster makeup master.
