Women's History Month kicked off officially yesterday with International Women's Day. It is intended as a celebration of the contributions, achievements, and struggles of women throughout history and society.
It began in 1978 as a local week-long celebration in Santa Rosa, California in response to the absence of women in educational texts. It became a national month in 1987.
Of course, here at WoM, we'll be celebrating women and their unique contributions to horror, fantasy and science-fiction literature and films throughout the month in our own special way.
