This great little magazine about stop-motion animation looks like it died on the vine during the pandemic. Too bad, because this is obviously a labor of love by people who ar dedicated to this cinema art. This issue is focused on a celebration of Ray Harryhausen's career and influential work. Included is a feature on the recreation of the MIGHTY JOE YOUNG armature. Now that's dedication!
In a world overcome with computer animation, it's so very nice to remember that stop motion still finds a footing. It's become like landscape painting, a quaint art from a long-ago time, but still speaks highly of the skills required to pursue it.
ReplyDeleteThe amazing Phil Tippett is probably the most in the forefront of stop-motion animation in the mainstream film industry these days. His 2021 film, Mad God, is simply phenomenal.
