This edition is dated 1970 with a new cover and artist from the previous 1968 edition. Two of Washington Irving's famous folk tales are adapted here by an unknown scriptwriter. Artwork for both stories is by Norman Nodel, an illustrator who worked primarily late in the Golden Age for companies such as Star, St. John, Ace and Ziff-Davis, drawing romance, crime and horror stories (BEHIND PRISON BARS, TEEN-AGE ROMANCE). He is most well known for his work at Avon where he illustrated for titles such as WITCHCRAFT, CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD, STRANGE WORLDS, DIARY OF HORROR and EERIE. Cover artist Thomas Oughton painted one other cover for CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED, the second edition of "Joan of Arc" (Winter, 1969). Included is a one-page biography of Washington Irving.
