The November 14, 1957 issue of Exhibitor's Film Bulletin used the recently-released THE BLACK SCORPION for its "Exploitation Movie of the Issue". Aimed at film exhibitors and movie theater owners, the material includes ads and suggestions for "shock" displays and "gag" displays, including a mat that can be used as a Black Scorpion mask!
The film stars Richard Denning and Mara Corday, and the review in the same issue gives it two-and-a-half stars and calls it "A good horror item . . . will do well where exploited". The movie comes with one of the best catchlines I've ever seen for a monster movie: "Don't be afraid to scream. It helps relieve the tension"!
