BEFORE THEY WERE SCREAM QUEENS

Many of the women that we know of as Scream Queens had their start in modeling before they began appearing in movies; Fay Wray, Elke Sommer, Yvette Vickers and Caroline Munro to name a few. Even one-scream wonders turned to modeling in order to break into the business.

Juli Reding was one of them. Born on November 28, 1936, Miss Reding is now 83 years-old.

In the 1950's and early 60's, the attractive blond appeared in numerous men's magazines, such as SCAMP, ESCAPADE, FOTO-RAMA, FLING, VAGABOND and VUE. In April 1957 she was voted one of the Miss Hollywood Stars.

In 1960, Reding co-starred in Bert I. Gordon's TORMENTED. Playing the character Vi Mason, she falls to her death and comes back to haunt jazz pianist Tom Stewart (Richard Carlson) who allowed it to happen. This was Reding's only horror film, but she put it to good use. A number of stills from the movie showed up in FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND and have become easily recognizable since then (including the photo in today's "Frankie's Friday Funnies" post).

Here she is on the cover and interior of MIDNIGHT #1 (January 1960). TORMENTED was released in September of that year.
