Thanks to Terence E. Hanley's blog, "Tellers of Weird Tales" (see "Legends From Bloggy Creek: Sites I Like" side bar on the right of this post), I learned that there is (finally) new life from the legendary WEIRD TALES. Occasionally, I would check the 'Net to see if there was anything going on in the cauldron regarding this venerable tome, and it seems that this one slipped by unnoticed.
After doing a little digging, I found that the most recent issue (#363) is dated Spring 2019 2019, so its been available for a while. The magazine is edited by the sagacious and prolific Marvin Kaye. Helmed by Creative Director John Harlacher with editorial directorship from popular horror author Jonathan Maberry, "The Eyrie" promises another issue by Halloween, but was that last Halloween?
Until we find out if this is just another flash in the pan for WT, in the meantime, here is information from the new owner/publisher, Weird Tales Inc., regarding the latest issue (#363) with a bat lady cover tribute by Abigail Larson to Margaret Brundage's illustration on the cover of WEIRD TALES from October 1933.
At least the website is back. Now, let's hope that the magazine does, too.
"Weird Tales continues a 95-year commitment to dark fantasy with this illustrated collection of new short fiction from masters of the craft.
