R.I.P. STEVE DITKO

To millions of comic book fans, Spider-Man is the ultimate Marvel superhero. Now, MMW has learned of the passing of his creator, Steve Ditko, on June 29, at age 90 years.

During his lengthy career, Ditko worked for all the major comic book publishers, including DC and Charlton. During his years at Charlton, Mr. Ditko drew many horror stories and it was his work there that inspired Jim Warren to use his talents for CREEPY and EERIE.

Ditko is also noted for creating Dr. Strange, Master of the Mystic Arts for Marvel, which went on to become a major motion picture just a few years ago.

Stan Lee is the remaining member of the trio (Lee, Ditko and Jack Kirby) that made pop culture history in the 1960s with a parade of the most dynamic characters the industry had yet to see.
