BERNIE WRIGHTSON'S 'FRANKENSTEIN' PORTFOLIO

In 1978, Tyrannosaurus Press produced a second portfolio of Bernie Wrightson's illustrated "Frankenstein" book. The aim was to sell all 2000 copies to help recoup the book's production costs.
A page included with the portfolio explained that the book would be published by late 1980 or early 1981 (it finally saw print in 1983). The last print shown here would not be included in the book and was an exclusive 11" x 15.75" plate for the portfolio.

Wrightson was a prolific artist and illustrator and these images are superb examples of his exquisite pen and brush work.  Along with luminaries like Frank Frazetta, we are lucky to have had such a talent as Bernie Wrightson working in the genre.

We do enjoy these great illustrations !! ... the tale of how I got a copy of the Book...
... a small bar (with pool tables) .... a collage bar where students from near-by UNCC.. would go... there were many books along the walls... and for sale very cheaply... so we got it for #1.00 ...
Lucky, because the bar burned to the ground about a week later...
