FRANKENSTEIN IN 30s BELGIAN MAGAZINE
Along with news, pictorials and comic strips, the French Language Belgian magazine LE MOUSTIQUE (The Mosquito) also contained articles on film. The magazine (28 pages, 7.75"X11.25") began in 1924 and was published by Dupuis.
The February 1933 issue's film section carried a short piece on the two 1931 American horror movies, FRANKENSTEIN and DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE. Entitled, "Le Maquillage" ("Makeup"), it briefly discusses the makeups of the films. Unfortunately, the creative hands that made the monsters, Jack Pierce and Wally Westmore respectively, are not mentioned.
