  1. Another great issue of THE WITCHING HOUR I useta own! Thanks for posting these!

Even though it's only two longer stories rather than the "three competing tales" the format establishes, who could possibly complain about two strong pieces from Gray Morrow and Alex Toth?

Not only does Morrow get a chance to go nuts with the zip-a-tone and ink spatter for the "visual effects" in this piece, we get to see the three hostesses in a more "realistically" rendered version that suggests what Cynthia might look like in a movie/TV adaptation (and almost a little like Elizabeth Montgomery in a couple of close-ups).

Toth's piece is a striking contrast, rendered in his signature linework coupled with dramatic blacks throughout the piece. (And the moment with Mildred and Mordred crashing the party is a hoot-- and Mildred apparently even shaved for the occasion!)

The host segments ending with Cynthia making a reference to SUGAR AND SPIKE is a funny "fourth wall break" and maybe even an "in-joke"-- given that its editor Murray Boltinoff would take over editing TWH with issue #14.
