Last week, you saw here the origin story of swamp monsters in Ted Sturgeon's, "It" (UNKNOWN, August 1940) which the idea would later be subsumed by comic books to great effect. Despite inspiring numerous characters and storylines, it wouldn't be until Marvel's first issue of SUPERNATURAL THRILLERS (December, 1972) that Sturgeon's tale would be properly adapted. With a cover by Jim Steranko, the script is by Roy Thomas and pencils and inks by Marie Severin and Frank Giacoia.
