The parallels between sex and horror are no more apparent than in Fred Clarke's FEMME FATALES with it winning combination of gals, ghosts and guts, One only needs to observe the (accidental?) sexual symbolism inherent in the cover image of PLAYBOY model Heather Elizabeth Parkhurst and what she grasps in her hand. This and other more overt, titillating images are probably the main reason why FF lasted longer on the stands than any number of other genre mags.

The photos around this time were getting a bit bolder, as well. Editor Bill George seemed to know just how much flesh to bare without FF ending up in the adult section of the news racks. Despite the focus on pin-up pics, the magazine still treated the actresses respectfully and even equal to their male counterparts.

Highlights in this issue are features on Bond Girl, Shirley Eaton, the great X-Files spin-off MILLENNIUM profile of Megan Gallagher and crazy coverage of the movie, KILLER TONGUE (!). Now, if that doesn't explode with innuendo and symbolism, I don't know what does!
