Avon's science-fiction comics are legendary, mainly because of the work by Wallace Wood. Here he embellishes the pencils of Joe Orlando to great effect. This particular issue is not only sought after by collectors for the art, but also the story, "The Opium Smugglers of Venus". Readers may recognize the name of writer Walter Gibson who is famous for creating pulp and comic book hero, The Shadow. Pre-code horror comics artist Warren Kremer illustrates the Lucky O'Day story, which found its way reprinted in several titles during the period.
