I'm pretty sure 35 pence was worth rather more than 50 cents in October 1977. The Fantastic Four #187 (cover date October, but on sale in July) was priced at 30 cents but sold over here for 12 pence. A quick mental calculation puts 35p up nearly 90 cents.
ReplyDeleteBefore the UK went decimal in 1971, the exchange rate was very roughly £1 (240 old pennies) to $2.40, around one penny to the cent. 35p was equivalent to seven pre-decimal shillings (84 old pennies), which again gets us up in the region of 90 cents.
