Despite its ups and downs over the years with financial and distribution problems and the continuous annoyance of reprints, sometimes accounting for most of the content of an issue, FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND at issue #90 still looked pretty good.
This issue did have a couple of reprints: THE BLACK SHEEP filmbook is from MONSTER WORLD #1 and the TARANTULA article is from issue #44. New material includes above average articles on SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN and HORROR CASTLE (aka THE VIRGIN OF NUREMBURG), plus filmbooks on CRY OF THE BANSHEE and THE VAMPIRE LOVERS. Not bad for a 15-year run.
UPDATE: The HORROR CASTLE article was also a reprint (see comment at the bottom of this post.

One of the 1st issues that I was able to purchase off the newsstand with my own allowance at the age of 13.
ReplyDeleteNote that the Horror Castle article was also from issue #44 (and the 1970 Yearbook).
Even being allowed to buy one was a big deal for me. That wonderful day finally came, though. Thanks for the reprint correction. I was looking right at it in the reference book I was using but somehow failed to include it.
