The UK had a tradition of hardcover Xmas annuals featuring characters from the weekly comics. In the 1960s, more and more appeared which featured adaptations of popular US tv series such as Star Trek, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., etc, usually reprints of Gold Key stories plus a few domestically generated quizzes or text adventures.
