"Oh, Magoo, you've done it again!"
When I was a kid, I don't think there was a TV cartoon series that I didn't like. The nearsighted Mr. Magoo was one of the many I watched regularly. Aided by the voice of Jim Backus, the wealthy, sight-challenged and cantankerous Magoo was first produced by the UPA animation studio in 1949 (voiced then by Greg Burson), where the shorts were screened in theaters. UPA's Magoo was nominated for four Academy Awards (TM) and won two for Best Short Animated Film in 1954 and 1956. After UPA ceased its theatrical productions, Mr. Magoo was revived for television in the early 1960s and became very popular.
Inspired by the well-received 1962 TV special, MR. MAGOO'S CHRISTMAS CAROL, a series of 20 literary adaptations under the title, THE FAMOUS ADVENTURES OF MR. MAGOO were produced and aired for one season on NBC from September 19, 1964 to April 24, 1965. One of them was Mary Shelly's FRANKENSTEIN shown below.
