Lancer used that cover for the first edition of Peter Saxon's novel Satan's Child in January 1968, making it one of Jeff Jones' first commercial sales after graduating in 1967 and moving to New York City.
ReplyDeleteThere's apparently a 2011 Hammer / Arrow Books edition of The Witches which includes a new introduction by director Cyril Frankel. 'Peter Saxon' was a pseudonym used by Norah Lofts.
DeleteI understand that Peter Saxon was used as a "house name" by several authors by more than one publisher.
