Monster magazine fans were heartbroken when James Warren gave up on FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND due to illness with its 191st issue in 1983. Editor Forrest J Ackerman had resigned in the meantime because of the "disorganized" situation with the publishing company. However, it didn't take long for FJA to be courted to helm another title.
Hal Shuster of New Media Publishing came knocking and Ackerman answered. Thus was born the next magazine in the FM legacy, MONSTERLAND.

How odd. I don't recall Mathilda May wearing a swimsuit in Lifeforce.
ReplyDeleteMy guess it was a test shot before the scene was filmed.
ReplyDeleteIt appears to have been painted in, to protect the magazine’s readers from the sight of Ms May’s breasts.
DeleteAnonymous: You are probably right about that now that you mention it. Looks like she got the early Playboy airbrush treatment. That would also explain why the man's "lower parts" are blurred, too. Thanks for "covering" this!
