COMICS FROM OUTER SPACE (PART 7)

Illustrated by Murphy Anderson with Jerry Siegel generally attributed to writing the scripts, Ziff-Davis's science-fiction adventure comic, LARS OF MARS, lasted just a short two issues in the early 1950's.

Anderson is perhaps best known for his work on DC's HAWKMAN. He also drew other science-fiction and space characters such as Adam Strange for MYSTERY IN SPACE, as well as a stint on the BUCK ROGERS syndicated newspaper strip.

There are three Lars stories in this issue, "Lars of Mars" introducing the superhero, "Villain or Hero?" and "The Terror From the Sky". The backup story is "Pirates of the Airways!" starring Captain Ken Brady, Rocket Pilot illustrated by Gene Colan.

After two issues and a regular and 3-D version published by Eclipse in 1986-1987, apparently Lars retired back to the Red Planet and has never been seen on Earth again.
