Man, I wish I would have had this book when I was a young Monster Kid. It contains the trifecta of stories about monsters, how to apply makeup to make yourself into a monster (with easier techniques than Dick Smith's MONSTER MAKEUP HANDBOOK), and how to put on your own monster show.
Written by Allan Ormsby, himself an accomplished makeup artist, MOVIE MONSTERS: MONSTER MAKE-UP & MONSTER SHOWS TO PUT ON was published in 1975 by Scholastic Book Services. Besides being a makeup and special effects man, most notable CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS (1972), Ormsby was also a director and author, which certainly qualifies him to write a book about this subject. I was an adult when this came out, but it sure would have been neat to have it a decade earlier.
Today I'm posting the first section of the book where he provides information on various classic monsters, including newer ones BLACULA and YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN.
