"Foxes--they're eating me!"
Monsters come in all shapes, sizes and guises, from the natural to the supernatural. After the groundbreaking story "Weasels Ripped My Flesh!" in MAN'S LIFE (September 1956), a torrent of Man vs. Beast accounts appeared in men's adventure magazines. MAN'S LIFE published a redux of this theme -- including a riff on the weasels title -- in its January 1959 issue. This time the first-person narrator describes an attack on his fiancé by killer foxes (!). Told in harrowing and bloody detail, when the rabid creatures get done with his "woman" they turn on him. Of course, he barely survives to tell the tale.
The accompanying illustration for "Hot Fangs Tore My Flesh!" is credited to Bruce Minney (October 2, 1928 — August 5, 2013) who was a commercial artist for over four decades and worked in a variety of media.
