Besides famous villains such as The Joker and The Penguin, it was not unusual for Batman to battle all manner of monstrosities over his 715-issue first run (Spring 1940 - October 2011). In the 100-page Super Spectacular BATMAN #255 (March-April 1974), our caped crusader faces one of his strangest -- and most deadliest -- foes . . . a werewolf stalks the streets of Gotham! The full-length story is scripted by Len "Swamp Thing" Wein, with pencils by Neal Adams and inks by Dick Giordano.
Those familiar green pants do so remind me of another werewolf by night. Is this one of those unofficial crossovers? Nah.
ReplyDeleteVery cool story, which I had not seen before. Thanks for reprinting it!
ReplyDeleteRip: Yes, vaguely familiar!
ReplyDeleteDoug: Always nice to hear from a monster fan in "Karloff"-ornia!
They did a version of this story for Batman the Animated Series.
