In my opinion, no cartoonist created better splash pages and panels than the late, great Will Eisner. Just one example is the image shown above -- I mean, Mr. Midnight is grasping one of the title letters and Eisner's signature is framed by the smoke of the candle fer' cryin' out loud! His imagination was boundless and his draftsmanship impeccable.
