CAPTAIN ENVIRO TO THE RESCUE!

Hailing from Eastern Canada is this public service comic devoted to providing information about preserving the ocean surrounding the region known as The Maritimes (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island). Designed and produced by the Halifax, Nova Scotia publisher, Comic Book World. The owner was Owen McCarron, who also contributed art to the line, including this warning to the public about the "saving" ocean environment, CAPTAIN ENVIRO. McCarron also worked for Marvel.

Comic Book World specialized in publishing public service information to the public on behalf of government and businesses in the form of free, giveaway comics. CAPTAIN ENVIRO was produced for the Committee of Environment Members and the Council of Maritime Premiers.

Cleverly written and the art, while purposefully cartoonish, adds to the fun of reading the story about King Sewage III's invasion of Earth from the planet Polluto and Captain Enviro saving the day with the help of his "pollutant free eco-belt". The book was distributed in 1972, which was a high tide awareness period for North America (see the APOCALYPSE SOON cartoons by Ron Cobb, many that carried a similar message).
