BORIS KARLOFF TALES OF MYSTERY NO. 3 (GOLD KEY)

BORIS KARLOFF'S TALES OF MYSTERY
Vol. 1 No. 3
April 1963
K.K. Publications, Inc.; Western Publishing Co. (Gold Key Comics)
Editor: Bill Harris
Cover: George Wilson
Pages: 36
Cover price: 12 cents

The television series, "Thriller", with episodes hosted by Boris Karloff, had run its course before these titles featuring Karloff in his own comic series were launched by Gold Key. In an obvious move to capitalize on the TV show, they scored big in getting the rights to use Karloff as the host of BORIS KARLOFF THRILLER, which ran for two giant-size issues and then becoming a regular series beginning with #3 and running for 95 issues!

The stories are tame in comparison to the guts and grue seen in horror comics of the 1950s, but they still maintain a suspenseful atmosphere, which are helped along by competent scripts and art. Plus, the added bonus was having another imaginative cover by George Wilson and a back cover to use as a pin-up.

In this issue is a one-page story illustrated by Tom Gill titled, "The Secret of Oak Island", the same location made popular currently by the cable TV show, THE CURSE OF OAK ISLAND.

NOTE: The text story from this issue will appear in Sunday's APOCALYPSE SOON post.
