RAY HARRYHAUSEN TRIBUTE BY MIKE HILL AT CREATURE FEAUTURES

THOSE OF YOU LIVING in SoCal may want to know that the CREATURE FEATURES brick 'n mortar version is back in business in beautiful downtown Burbank, CA. This Saturday any monster fan within travel distance should go there to see what promises to be a stunning display in tribute to the recently departed master of stop motion animation and fantasy art, Ray Harryhausen. The work that will be unveiled is by artist/sculptor Mike Hill, and, if it's like any of his other work, it promises to be breathtaking. Here are the details:

"This year, the world of fantasy filmmaking lost one of its most beloved conjurers: Mr. Ray Harryhausen.  His impact on generations of fans and filmmakers was unparalleled, spanning over 70 years and more than a dozen cinematic classics.

This Saturday, December 21st, Creature Features welcomes renowned artist Mike Hill as he pays tribute to the grand master of stop motion animation with his own stunningly life-like recreation of 'Uncle Ray,' surrounded by a mischievous band of his own creation.

Hill's heartfelt, life-size homage captures the warmth and imagination of the icon, whose films included Mighty Joe Young, The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, Jason and the Argonauts, Mysterious Island, One Million Years B.C., and The Valley of Gwangi.

The festivities begin at 1pm and will include holiday refreshments, plus a special sale on all stop-motion themed merchandise, including books, magazines, soundtracks and model kits.

For those unable to attend, Hill's tribute will be on display in our gallery during our regular store hours until Saturday, December 28th."
